DNS Filtering & Management Platform

A J700-built DNS filtering and management platform in active development, designed to provide clearer policy control, network integration and visibility across customer sites without requiring additional on-site hardware.

The problem

Traditional DNS filtering platforms did not fully match J700’s requirements for a modern management experience, customer and site-level policy control, live request visibility, network-aware device identification and integration with UniFi-managed environments. J700 therefore began developing an alternative shaped around the way managed customer networks are operated.

The solution

J700 has built a tangible prototype platform with a management interface designed around customers, sites, devices and DNS policies. The platform architecture brings together category filtering, domain allow and deny controls, policy overrides, request visibility, custom block-page handling, list-provider integrations and UniFi Cloud synchronisation. DNS activity can be viewed at global, site and device level, while authenticated local users, role-based access and two-factor authentication form part of the management design. The platform is being developed for containerised, Linux-hosted operation across multiple DNS servers, with resilience and failover considered in the architecture. It remains in active development and must not be presented as a mature commercial SaaS product or as broadly deployed.

Business outcome

This project demonstrates how J700 can examine the operational limitations of an existing technology category and engineer a platform around managed-network requirements. Its relevance lies in bringing DNS policy, network context and operational visibility into one management approach. No production-scale, customer-adoption or performance outcome is claimed.
